Mobile junk mail a problem in Japan

TOKYO—The Cabinet Office in Japan on Thursday announced that it found 27 percent of the country’s mobile users receive at least two junk mails on their phones a day. According to the governmental office, 75 percent of mobile users are irritated about the junk mail, and 80 percent said they do not want to receive any junk mail. The Cabinet Office conducted the survey on 2,300 mobile users in February.

In Japan, Internet-enabled mobile-phone service is very popular. According to the Telecommunications Carrier’s Association (TCA), an industry association, 72 percent of the country’s total 67 million mobile users subscribe to Internet access services.
