Prosecutors seek voting documents in HP-Compaq merger

NEW YORK—Hewlett-Packard Co. said federal prosecutors have asked for documents on the voting by two of its big shareholders, Deutsche Bank and Northern Trust, on the merger plan with Compaq Computer Corp.

Industry watchers see the investigation as a fallout from a civil suit filed by Walter Hewlett, board member and son of one of the company’s founders.
