ITouch settles name dispute with HiTouch

DUBLIN, Ireland—International media group Independent News & Media has settled a case taken against its subsidiary iTouch by digital media firm HiTouch. U.K.-based wireless applications service provider iTouch was launched in March 2000, two years after its similarly named rival.

HiTouch, which has changed its name to Gravit8 following settlement of the court case, claimed that the name iTouch was almost identical to its own and that similarity would damage its business given the companies competed in a number of areas.
