Leap cuts work force by 50 employees

SAN DIEGO—Leap Wireless International Inc. said it is eliminating approximately 50 positions, or roughly 3 percent of its current work force, in keeping with its cost reductions and shift in focus from launching new markets to operating existing markets.

As a result of the job cuts, Leap expects to record a one-time charge of approximately $860,000 in the second quarter. The cuts are also expected to save the company $3 million for the remainder of the year after the one-time charge.
