JAKARTA, Indonesia—Following the formation of the Application Developer Society (ADC) last year, MobileOne (M1) selected EdgeMatrix and Philip Tang & Sons as its strategic developers. Both companies will develop products exclusively for M1, including sharing information on product road maps, product ideas and infrastructure planning.
ADC is a society formed by M1 in October 2001 to develop wireless applications and currently counts more than 60 developers as members.
To date, more than 20 ideas for wireless applications have been proposed by ADC members, the majority of which are in the areas of multimedia messaging services (MMS), wireless games, entertainment and wireless Java. This is in line with M1’s plan to deliver innovative 2.5-generation (2.5G) and third-generation (3G) applications in the future.
Neil Montefiore, chief executive officer (CEO) of M1, said: “It is very strategic for us to build a strong wireless developers’ community to support and sustain our service development efforts. I would also like to welcome EdgeMatrix and Philip Tang & Sons as our strategic developers. We look forward to working closely with them in many exciting areas and projects.”
In addition, M1 exceeded its 1 millionth customer last March and increased its market share to 35 percent from 10 percent in 1998.
