HELSINKI, Finland, and BERLIN—Nokia Corp. and Siemens AG have agreed to collaborate in creating and driving open standards-based mobile software, part of which will allow Siemens to license Nokia’s software platform on the German vendor’s smart phones.
“This initiative will benefit developers and operators not only because of the common software design, but also through the combined ability that Nokia and Siemens will be able to provide in distributing the applications and tools,” said Pertti Korhonen, senior vice president, mobile software at Nokia.
Siemens also recently agreed to license Motorola’s handset technology.
