WATERLOO, Ontario—As expected, Research In Motion Ltd. filed a patent complaint against competitor Good Technology Inc. in the U.S. District Court in Delaware.
RIM’s complaint alleges Good willfully infringed on the company’s patents, which cover the technology to send and receive corporate e-mails on a wireless device, and RIM is asking the court to award monetary damages as well as attorneys’ fees and costs.
Good, expecting such a legal attack, filed last month a pre-emptive strike against RIM, asking a California court to either declare RIM’s patent invalid or that Good is not infringing on the patent.
