China Unicom selects Nortel for optical networks

BEIJING-China Unicom said it has selected Nortel networks to deploy an optical solution based on Nortel’s OPTera Metro multiservice platform to support the carrier’s GSM and CDMA networks for voice, data, video and Internet services.

The $15 million contract covers seven cities in the Guangdong province, including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Foshan, Shunde, Huizhou and Zhongshan.
