ATLANTA-Ahead of its planned launch of wireless service in New York City next month, Cingular Wireless L.L.C. opened a Cingular Zone in Rockefeller Center allowing potential customers to try out the carrier’s service and announced title sponsorship of the Nam June Paik art exhibit Transmission.
At the Cingular Zone, visitors can make free wireless phone calls anywhere in the nation and try out Cingular’s text messaging service at the Live Bar. Callers can then use fluorescent pegs to mark the locations they dialed on a giant wall map of the United States.
