PARIS, France-Alcatel Alsthom posted a net loss of $1.43 billion in the second quarter, discounting hopes of any recovery this quarter. At the same period last year, the company reported a $3.11 billion loss.
Its second-quarter operating loss was $176.8 for the second quarter in contrast with a $135.8 million loss in the same period last year.
“Alcatel expects markets to stay depressed in the second half of 2002, with no sign of recovery in view,” said Serge Tchuruk, the company’s chief executive.
