Wavecom, Everkom enter contract for GSM/GPRS phones

ISSY-LES-MOULINEAUX, France-Wavecom said it signed a contract with South Korean mobile-phone manufacturer Everkom Industrial Co. Ltd. to supply Wismo Quik Q2403B modules for Everkom’s new MGD-100 GSM/GPRS mobile phones and provide all necessary integration support.

The contract calls for an initial order of 200,000 units.

Wismo modules include all of the hardware, software and other technology needed to enable wireless communications over GSM, GPRS, CDMA and future networks, Wavecom said.

The dual-band MGD-100 is scheduled to launch in China in the third quarter and will be sold under third-party brand names.
