BERLIN-Deutsche Telekom AG’s recently appointed chief executive officer told a German newspaper last week that the company would accelerate a restructuring program and might pull out of some foreign markets in an attempt to reduce its considerable debt load.
Helmut Sihler said the company planned to remain active in four areas, including mobile telephone services, but with “changes of accent.”
While DT said it would present details of its review in the fall, analysts are predicting the company could alter its current ownership arrangement in its international wireless businesses, including T-Mobile USA and its operations in France and Spain. Sihler told the magazine it is “looking at ways to improve our market position” in the United States.
