Wireless imaging could reach 160 million users in 5 years

BOSTON-A new study says the number of wireless imaging users may grow to 160 million by 2007 from 6.6 million in 2002, according to InfoTrends Research Group. Japan is expected to take the lead since 98 percent of users reside there, according to the study.

“Wireless imaging will have an impact on many segments of the digital imaging industry,” said Michelle Slaughter, director of digital photography trends for InfoTrends. “Digital camera vendors must consider solutions for implementing connectivity from cameras to mobile communications devices and whether mobile image capture devices will impact sales of standalone point-and-shoot digital cameras.”
