TOKYO-Japanese supplier NEC Corp. said it will supply a mobile multimedia platform to French operator Bouygues Telecom for developing i-mode services in France. NEC said it will supply servers and integrated software to allow Bouygues Telecom customers to access i-mode services on its GPRS network, followed by a UMTS network, if the French company obtains a UMTS license.
The value of the contract was not disclosed.
In April, Bouygues Telecom signed a technology transfer agreement with NTT DoCoMo Inc. to launch i-mode services in France.
