STOCKHOLM, Sweden-Sweden-based Telia Mobile said it signed a framework agreement with third-generation operator Hi3G for colocating masts. Hi3G is the Swedish 3G subsidiary of Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. and is building a UMTS network in the Nordic country.
Under the agreement, Telia Mobile will lease space on its existing masts in Sweden for colocating and installing Hi3G’s UMTS antennas where there is available space. Telia is granted equal colocation on Hi3G’s masts.
Telia Mobile does not own a 3G license in Sweden but has partnered with Tele2 for UMTS services. It has similar colocation agreements with Tele2 and Orange in Sweden.
