CHICAGO, Ill.-Telecom equipment vendor Tellabs Inc. said it anticipates a third-quarter loss and will slash 800 jobs, or 14.5 percent of its staff. The layoffs are due to a slump in carrier orders, according to the company.
The company, which also plans to shut down a plant in Shannon, Ireland, says about half the layoffs will be in the United States.
The company has about 5,500 workers.
