Intel unveils products to bring PC apps to mobile devices

SAN JOSE, Calif.-At the Intel Developer Forum, Intel Corp. said it has unveiled a number of products to bring personal computer applications to wireless and handheld products using its Personal Internet Client Architecture building blocks.

They include the Intel Wireless MMX technology, Intel Persistent Storage Manager and Intel Flash Data Integrator.

The semiconductor company also released facts about its upcoming mobile platform code-named Banias, which will extend battery life with new thin and light form factor in WiFi-based wireless notebooks.

“Bringing the hundreds of thousands of MMX-based applications from the Intel Pentium processor family will help accelerate the deployment of rich wireless and further extend the advanced capabilities of our building blocks,” said Ron Smith, senior vice president and general manager, Intel Communications and computing group.
