DoCoMo announces ring tone to fight phone scams

TOKYO-In its continuing fight against phone scams, NTT DoCoMo Inc. said it will begin offering a new ring tone that will remain silent for a few moments at the beginning of an incoming call for selected handsets. The ring tone is designed to combat companies that call mobile phones and then hang up after one ring in an attempt to place a return phone number on a consumer’s handset.
