Ratelindo postpones rolling out CDMA-based services

JAKARTA, Indonesia-Ratelindo, Indonesia’s pioneer fixed wireless operator, confirmed it will defer the delivery of CDMA-based services from the third quarter this year into in the beginning of next year.

Virano Nasution, chief executive officer (CEO) of Ratelindo, said that Samsung and Nortel Networks, acting as Ratelindo’s strategic partners for provisioning cdma2000 1x network equipment, have just finished the network buildout.

He added the deferment will allow the company to carry out a feasibility test of CDMA-based features. He said that by the completion of the test, Ratelindo will have enriched its services with Internet and multimedia offerings.

In addition to a fixed telephone license, Ratelindo also was awarded an Internet service provider (ISP) license.
