Microsoft looks to Japan for smart phone introduction

TOKYO-Microsoft Corp. said it is in talks with a number of Japanese wireless operators to introduce its smart phone into the Japanese market, according to Dow Jones Business News.

“We’re talking with J-Phone, KDDI and others,” said Hidenori Kuraishi, senior manager of the Japan Mobility Marketing Group at Microsoft, at a wireless conference in Tokyo.

Kuraishi said Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Sendo, HTC, Compal and TCL are expected to manufacture the handset, and Microsoft plans to release the smart phone in Europe later this year.
