PITTSBURGH-Akustica Inc., which has patented acoustic MEMS technology, has raised $2.25 million in Series A financing from Chamberlain Investments.

Akustica was founded by the former director of the Carnegie Mellon University MEMS Laboratory as a provider of acoustic system-on-chip solutions for wireless communications and consumer electronics. Carnegie Mellon’s patents were exclusively licensed to Akustica last year.
