CHICAGO-The Securities and Exchange Commission may file civil charges against Lucent Technologies Inc. over sales accounting practices, according to a report by USA Today.
The report said the SEC sent a “Wells notice” to the wireless vendor, which is often followed by formal charges. Lucent had been under investigation since November 2000 when it revised its quarterly reports because of what it described as an accounting error. The company’s stock still held above a dollar in morning trading.
