OYSTER BAY, N.Y.-Committees and consortiums dedicated to developing and overseeing biometric technology standards will be a catalyst for biometric vendors to significantly increase revenues in 2003, according to a new report from Allied Business Intelligence.
ABI’s “Biometric Systems; Worldwide Deployments, Market Drivers, and Major Players” report predicts fingerprint-scanning devices will make up 36 percent of biometric devices shipped in 2002. Biometric technologies are also used for iris recognition, hand geometry, facial recognition, voice authentication and dynamic signature verification.
