SUNNYVALE, Calif.-Wireless enterprise company Good Technology Inc. announced an undisclosed number of layoffs, a move a company executive said would better align Good’s business and increase its operating efficiency.
“As part of the alignment we have reduced staff across the organization,” said Andrea Fleming, Good’s vice president of corporate marketing. “We’re just trying to keep lean and mean.”
Fleming wouldn’t disclose the specific number of job cuts, but said media reports of a staff reduction of about 25 percent were “not far off.” The news comes one day after Good’s chief rival, Research In Motion Ltd., announced a 10 percent cut in its work force.
Fleming said about 425 customers have signed up for the company’s corporate messaging software, and that Good plans to begin selling its G100 wireless device in January through Cingular Wireless.
