Microsoft teams with Samsung for concept design

REDMOND, Wash.-Microsoft Corp. and Samsung Semiconductor Inc. announced they teamed to create a concept design for devices using Microsoft’s Pocket PC personal digital assistant operating system, a move the companies said will dramatically lower costs and reduce product development time for device manufacturers licensing the technology.

“The power of the Microsoft Pocket PC software coupled with the performance and reliability of Samsung’s application processor represents a paradigm shift in mobile device concept designs,” said Yun Tae Lee, vice president of Samsung Electronics’ Mobile Solution Project. “This ultra low-cost, maximized design gives consumer electronics OEMs and ODMs the ability to rapidly bring to market high-value, low-cost mobile computing solutions.”
