BEIJING-Lucent Technologies Inc. said it has replaced 65 of China Unicom’s CDMA base stations with cdma2000 1x technology in a day in Shanghai province.
The swap-out took place swiftly to avoid service disruption, and the equipment was configured to reduce overall call-drop rates by 20 percent, according to Lucent.
“Working closely with Shanghai Unicom, the swap-out was implemented quickly and cost effectively,” said Nan Yueh-Chun, vice president with Lucent’s mobility solutions group. “With the joint efforts of China Unicom and Lucent, we believe Shanghai Unicom’s CDMA network will soon become a showcase for China Unicom’s CDMA phase11 project by providing subscribers throughout China with advanced, reliable voice and data services.”
