WATERLOO, Ontario-Research In Motion Ltd. reported Nextel Communications Inc. will begin shipping its BlackBerry 6510 device this week.
The Java-based 6510 will include Nextel’s current iDEN-based voice and data capabilities, its Direct Connect functionality through a dedicated button on the side of the device, RIM’s ‘thumb-typing’ keyboard design, navigation trackwheel, embedded RIM wireless modem, integrated speaker/microphone and headset.
Nextel will also sell RIM’s associated BlackBerry Enterprise Server and Web Client.
