RESTON, Va.—Daniel Akerson, chairman and chief executive officer of XO Communications Inc., will quit the company following the completion of XO’s financial restructuring. The company will move into the hands of financier Carl Icahn, which will hold a controlling interest in the company after its restructuring, and the company’s president and chief operating officer Nate Davis.
Akerson said he is leaving the company to pursue other interests and spend time with his family.
“I have great respect for what the company has been able to accomplish during the restructuring process and am confident that the XO management team’s intimate knowledge of the company and years of industry experience will be key to the company’s future,” Icahn said.
