PARIS-Alcatel signed a memorandum of understanding with United Arab Emirates (UAE) mobile operator Etisalat to supply a trial Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) network in Abu Dhabi.
Under the agreement, Alcatel will deliver and install a complete UMTS network. The timeframe of the trial was not disclosed, although Etisalat has said in the past it plans to launch UMTS service this year.
