HELSINKI, Finland-Nokia Corp. released additional details on its previously announced N-Gage video game platform/mobile phone, reporting the support of a range of major video game developers and sales timelines.
In conjunction with the release, Nokia held two “Get Ready to N-Gage” events in London and Sydney, Australia. Nokia said the device will feature Bluetooth wireless technology that will allow users to play against each other face-to-face, as well as wide area network technology so the device can work as a mobile phone. Gaming companies Activision, Eidos, Sega, Taito and THQ said they will develop games for the platform.
Nokia said the device will be sold through major retail outlets, game-specific and video game retail outlets as well as in regular mobile phone delivery channels. It will be available in volume across five continents in the fourth quarter of this year.
