FCC reaffirms UWB rules

WASHINGTON, D.C.-The Federal Communication Commission has adopted a Memorandum Opinion and Order that reaffirms, with minor changes, procedures adopted a year ago to authorize the unlicensed operations ultra-wideband devices.

The minor changes were made to further facilitate operation of imaging devices, and came in response to petitions filed in response to the original order. The FCC expects the introduction of UWB devices in the next 12 to 18 months and said it will continue to investigate their potential impact and to review its standards as necessary.
