West Point uses SMC Networks 802.11a products

IRVINE, Calif.-SMC Networks said its 802.11a wireless network products have been chosen for use in the U.S. Military Academy at West Point’s wireless classrooms project.

For the project, West Point has installed SMC2755W EX Connect 802.11a Wireless Access Points in 350 classrooms and labs, and 450 mathematics and English students will connect to the network using notebook computers in classrooms equipped with SMC2735W EZ Connect 802.11a Wireless CardBus Adapters. In addition, the entire incoming freshman class will be issued notebook computers already outfitted with the 802.11a adapters and class of 2006 students will have the option to upgrade their notebook computers to include the adapters.
