REDMOND, Wash.-AT&T Wireless Services Inc. and Cingular Wireless L.L.C. officially formed their previously announced “Roadrunner” joint venture to build out GSM/GPRS service along more than 4,000 miles of rural highways in Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, New Mexico, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas and Utah.
The companies also announced an amendment to the original agreement to include the network build to major highways in Vermont, New Hampshire and upstate New York.
Construction of the network is expected to begin during the first quarter with various sections completed this year and next year.
