Security, cost important factors in enterprise adoption

Based on feedback from approximately 100 corporate IT directors in eight European countries, Frost & Sullivan has concluded that increased enterprise adoption of wireless technologies depends primarily on improved security but also on lower cost and better reliability of equipment and services.

“The key issues for WLAN adopters are based around perceived security weaknesses attached to the standard-unsurprising, given the barrage of negative publicity which has been surrounding this space over the last few years,” the market analysis firm said.

“Bluetooth has significant potential to penetrate the enterprise space, but concerns over security, cost and useful applications have proved to be a stumbling block that must be overcome to unleash the market’s full potential.”
