SUNNYVALE, Calif.-Atheros Communications Inc., which develops technologies for secure, high-performance wireless local area networks, has promoted Craig Barratt, its vice president of technology, to the post of chief executive officer.
In the succession, which the company said had been planned for several months, Barratt takes over the CEO role from Rich Redelfs, who has become vice chairman of the board of directors.
Barratt, who holds a doctorate in electrical engineering from Stanford University, joined Atheros a year ago, moving from ArrayComm Inc. where he was executive vice president and general manager.
