NEW DELHI, India-The Nepal government has awarded a license for operation of basic telephony services based on wireless local loop (WLL) to an Indo-Nepali joint venture company.
United Telecom, a joint venture of India’s state-owned telecom companies-MTNL, VSNL and TCIL-and Nepal Ventures Private, will launch WLL services by July.
MTNL would own 26.68 percent in United Telecom, and the other two Indian firms would each hold 26.66-percent stakes, with the Nepali firm holding the rest.
