BELLEVUE, Wash.-T-Mobile USA Inc. and the National Communications System are expanding the wireless priority system to areas of the northeastern and midwestern United States and Hawaii.
“We are pleased that national advanced WPS deployment has moved forward quickly,” said Gary Jones, T-Mobile director of standards policy. “We look forward to adding more WPS markets over the next few months.”
With WPS, designated government officials are placed at the front of the queue for mobile-phone channels. A similar arrangement is available for wireline.
Currently T-Mobile is the only carrier to offer WPS but NCS is working with other carriers to implement the service on their networks.
