SAN DIEGO-U.S. Cellular Corp. signed a definitive agreement with Qualcomm Inc. to launch BREW-enabled wireless data services on its cdma2000 1x network in Tennessee next month and across its other markets later this year. The agreement follows U.S. Cellular’s BREW trial in its Knoxville, Tenn., market.
“We are excited to commercially launch services based on the BREW solution and are confident this new technology will improve our customers’ quality of life by providing access to information, entertainment and communication in a simple, easy-to-use manner,” said Alan Ferber, vice president of marketing for U.S. Cellular.
In support of the launch, Bytemobile announced that U.S. Cellular has deployed its Optimization Service Node software across its network that is designed to provide faster, more reliable data services and improved network efficiencies.
Bytemobile said the software uses its proprietary Macara Dynamic Optimization Technology, which uses existing radio spectrum and infrastructure resources to offer expanded data services and enhance the data experience.
