OVERLAND PARK, Kan.-Sprint Corp. completed three metropolitan area network rings connecting the carrier’s network to several local telecom exchange facilities as well as a Sprint mobile switching center in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area.
Sprint said its MAN initiative establishes local transport infrastructure enabling the company to bypass the incumbent local exchange carrier. The company noted it has deployed MAN rings in 20 markets and expects to deploy the networks in a total of 30 U.S. cities by the middle of next year.
