Autodesk recognized as co-author of OpenGIS spec

SAN RAFAEL, Calif.-Location services company Autodesk Inc. said it has been recognized by the Open GIS Consortium as a co-author of the proposed OpenGIS Location Services Implementation Specification.

The Open GIS Consortium is working to define an XML-based standard for location service interfaces and help to standardize the development services such as mapping, routing and point-of-interest directories.

“As part of the OpenLS specification team of authors, Autodesk has made important contributions to this proposed specification,” said David Schell, president of the Open GIS Consortium. “I appreciate their efforts, along with those of the entire OpenLS Specification team, to help shape the proposed specification.”

Companies including Hutchison 3G, Oracle and Navigation Technologies have been working on the specification.
