Broadband tax break stripped from economic package

WASHINGTON-Lawmakers stripped out a broadband tax break in the economic growth package passed by Congress Friday, but kept intact incentives designed to stimulate equipment purchasing by small businesses in high-tech and other industrial sectors.

The broadband tax credit was intended to spur deployment of high-speed Internet access in rural areas.
