WASHINGTON-Many house lawmakers expressed concern Wednesday that the deployment of wireless local number portability may divert resources from the implementation of wireless enhanced 911.
This argument against wireless LNP has often been cited by mobile-phone carriers, which generally oppose the Nov. 24 wireless LNP deadline.
One lawmaker who disagreed was Rep. Edward Markey (D-Mass.), ranking member of the House telecommunications subcommittee. “Public safety and consumer protection are not competing alternatives,” said Markey.
