PRAGUE, Czech Republic-Cesky Telecom, the largest fixed-line operator in the Czech Republic, has reached a tentative agreement to buy full control of mobile operator Eurotel from Verizon Communications and AT&T Wireless Services Inc. for $1.05 billion, international press reports said. The two U.S. operators hold a combined 49 percent of Eurotel, and Cesky currently holds the remaining 51 percent.
The two U.S. companies have been looking to sell the stake for some time and have been in on-again, off-again negotiations since 2001.
Eurotel is the leading mobile operator in the Czech Republic. It has nearly 4 million subscribers and holds a third-generation UMTS license.
