ALAMEDA, Calif.-UTStarcom Inc. said it has signed a contract valued at $28.7 million with China Netcom to deploy its Internet Protocol-based personal access system equipment in 28 county-level cities throughout the Henan Province.
“In addition to deploying PAS in metropolitan cities, such as Beijing and Guangzhou, we are experiencing another trend as county-level cities deploy PAS and iPAS systems,” said Ying Wu, chief executive officer of UTStarcom China. “The majority of China’s population still lives in smaller, suburban cities, representing a great market potential.”
