EDS said it signed an agreement with Orange plc for a set of managed mobility products for enterprise customers. The two companies will jointly deliver the EDS Extended Connected Office service, which brings secure data to mobile devices at a fixed monthly rate per user.
The fixed cost per user covers the handset, service and data use. The ECO service connects mobile and remote workers through the corporate firewall to access data, enterprise applications, personal information and collaboration services, EDS said.
The companies have additionally formed a Wireless Centre of Excellence consisting of joint virtual teams, which will help deliver and implement EDO to enterprises.
Orange, which has traditionally focused on the consumer market, is looking to gain more corporate users to boost revenues.
