TOKYO-Two Japanese operators announced additions to their multimedia messaging handset portfolios. KDDI said it released the A1304T manufactured by Toshiba Corp. and the A1401K from Kyocera Corp. for its 1x service.
Both handsets support MovieMail, which enables users to capture and send video. The two new phones will begin sales in August.
J-Phone said it will offer Sanyo’s J-SA06 picture messaging handset also in August. The phone has Multi Sha-Mail and Postcard capabilities, which allow users to create and mail their own files using preset background templates and melodies that are bundled with the handset.
The phone also offers a “phone finder” function, allowing users to find the misplaced handset even when set to vibrate. J-Phone said it now offers 29 Sha-Mail handsets.
