BOULDER, Colo.-SandCherry Inc. recently committed to refining its focus by working with partners to offer complete mobility solutions to its enterprise and service provider customers, an announcement that was followed by a flurry of partnership deals and product releases that serve as part of the new strategy.
To spearhead the initiative, SandCherry appointed Michael Sajor as vice president of mobility solutions and has charged him with retuning the company’s mobility strategy. Sajor has previous executive experience in the mobility space from Kirusa and Lucent Technologies Inc.
SandCherry, traditionally known for its speech recognition technology, is now focused on partnering with other companies to bundle complete solutions that can be sold to enterprises or wireless carriers that can then more quickly roll out advanced voice-based and multimodal applications.
SandCherry’s customers are looking for complete solutions, not just pieces of technology, explained Sajor. By allowing its customers to develop more advanced applications more quickly, “we’re going to change the complexion of the market,” Sajor said.
The company released AppDev VXML at last week’s Zelos Group Pervasive 2003 show. AppDev VXML is an integrated voice-application development tool designed for BEA Systems Inc.’s WebLogic Workshop to reduce the time, effort and complexity of building a speech application by using the same underlying business logic and data integration implemented for a Web application.
AppDev VXML adds a new voice-based presentation layer, allowing changes to business logic or data integration to be performed just once to simultaneously update both Web and speech applications, which reduces ongoing application maintenance costs. The product is set to be available in August for $495 per user.
The new solution follows another SandCherry-BEA joint solution released earlier this month based on the SandCherry SoftServer platform and the BEA WebLogic Service Delivery to speed, simplify and extend service deployments in the telecommunications industry.
SandCherry also recently completed the integration of Sun Microsystems’ Sun ONE Application Server 7 with its SoftServer platform.
