CAMBRIDGE, United Kingdom-Mobile e-mail will drive the growth of mobile data services for Western European businesses during the next five years, according to advisory firm Analysys.
Analysys predicts 40 percent of people in Western Europe with business mobile phones will use mobile e-mail in 2008, compared with less than 1 percent today. In addition, revenue generated by mobile e-mail will increase from $55.7 million in 2003 to $3.3 billion in 2008.
“Businesses have been slow to start using mobile networks for services other than voice,” said Katrina Bond, lead author of the report.
“But mobile e-mail is set to lead the way as solutions to enable this valuable extension to existing person-to-person communications become more widespread.”
