Radiation protection firms settle FTC charges

WASHINGTON-Safety Cell Inc. and Rhino International Inc., which marketed and sold fake cell-phone radiation protection patches, have settled Federal Trade Commission charges that they made false and misleading claims about their products.

According to their settlements, both companies are now required to provide adequate scientific evidence to substantiate claims about the performance, efficacy or benefit of any goods or service, and Rhino is required to pay $342,665 to consumers who purchased its WaveScrambler patch.
