BEDMINSTER, N.J.-Verizon Wireless expanded its board of directors from seven members to nine members with the appointment of Lowell McAdam, its chief operating officer, and Julian Horn-Smith, group COO of Vodafone Group plc.
Verizon Wireless noted that when it was formed in April 2000, parent companies Verizon Communications Inc. and Vodafone called for a seven-member governing board comprising of four representatives from Verizon, which controlled 55 percent of the wireless venture, and three members from Vodafone. The new nine-member board will include five members from Verizon and four members from Vodafone.
Verizon Wireless also announced that Vodafone Chief Executive Officer Arun Sarin has succeeded former Vodafone CEO Christopher Gent on the board effective July 25. Gent recently retired as head of Vodafone.
